Tip Weekend evenings get busy; arriving an hour before sunset is a good idea.

Kızkalesi, in the Erdemli district, takes its name from the castle 200 metres offshore. Together with the second castle on the shore, Korykos, its history spans antiquity to the Middle Ages. The long, sandy, shallow beach is ideal for families, and boat trips take you out to the castle.
Tip In summer, going early in the morning and returning in the afternoon avoids traffic and heat.

At the bottom of the Heaven sinkhole lies a 5th-century chapel and a cave; the descent down 450 steps is an experience in itself. The neighbouring Hell sinkhole cannot be entered and is viewed from the rim. The Astım Cave and the seaside fish restaurants of Narlıkuyu are in the same area.
Tip Bring comfortable shoes and water; going down into Heaven is easy, coming back up is tiring.

The cave in the village of Dedeler near Tarsus is associated with the story of the Seven Sleepers, told in all three Abrahamic faiths. Steps lead down into the cave; the Ottoman-era mosque beside it and the view over the Çukurova plain complete the visit. On the same day you can see Cleopatra’s Gate, the historic Tarsus houses and the Tarsus Waterfall in the town centre.
Tip Combine it with Tarsus for a full-day route; Tarsus is famous for its hummus and cezerye.

Tisan is the cove of a peninsula reaching into the sea on the road to Aydıncık. People come for swimming in its clear water and boat trips, far from crowded beaches. Silifke, Boğsak Cove and the Aydıncık beaches are stops along the way.
Tip Leave early; on the way back you can stop in Silifke for dinner.

Mersin’s coastline runs the length of Yenişehir as one continuous park. For a morning run, an evening walk or a playground with the kids, this is the nearest open space to our apartments. You can follow the shore all the way to the Marina.
Tip Cycling to the Marina and back on the seafront bikes in the cool of the evening is a lovely route.
